Ensuring multi-state compliance with limited resources

Another Broken Egg has approximately 45 corporate-owned restaurants across the United States, which are currently located in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio and Kansas. Each state has distinct laws and regulations, making it challenging for our HR team to keep up with the frequent regulatory and legislative changes. This task is particularly difficult for a small team with limited resources.

They used to spend countless hours researching different states’ websites and determining whether or not the changes applied to their organisation to ensure they weren’t lagging in HR compliance for that state. Because time is valuable, it’s important to have a reliable tool to support them in managing their day-to-day HR initiatives efficiently and quickly.

If a law changes that applies to their organisation, suggestions are provided for a policy template to update the wording in the handbook.

Melanie also shared that Brightmine significantly enhanced the team’s confidence as they navigated the business’s expansion into new states. In the past, there were many back-and-forth conversations in deciding where to grow, and the HR department was specifically involved in considering the legal landscape and the implications of meeting any new compliance requirements in new locations.
